Sunday in Savannah

We began our Sunday by going to Mass at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. It's located in historic downtown Savannah and was founded in 1700 by French colonists.

All we could say was, "wow." The cathedral was just gorgeous. (I wish I had better pictures.) I tried to quickly take a few pictures because we weren't suppose to be taking pictures during Mass. Well, Mass hadn't begun yet, so I guess it was OK. The kids, however, were getting on to me. :/

We thoroughly enjoyed attending Mass. The monsignor who said the Mass delivered a powerful sermon. In a nutshell, he said that at the end of each day we should reflect on the following:

1. Recall the best part of our day & thank God for the highlight of the day.

2. Reflect on the worst part of your day & ask God for forgiveness for the offense we committed.

3. Ask God to give us the wisdom & knowledge to make good choices the next day.

He said it's a good way to recap the day's events & a good way to prepare for the day to come.

After church, we walked around the city some and watch some of the people as they toured Savannah. We had lunch and then went to Tybee Island, GA, which was about an hour away.

After spending several hours at the beach & taking in lots of sun, we had an early dinner before we headed back to the hotel.

  1. what a beautiful cathedral! looks like a great time. i enjoyed your trip throught the photos! mmm, and that pie! yum!

i wanted to tell you about the fruit water, it's just ice, water and (sliced cucumber, hulled strawberries, sliced lemons, or oranges) they are all so good, nothing else to be added. the fruit is even better after sitting in the cold water all day, we eat it at the end of the day usually.. hope you get a chance to try it.
