Something Pretty

Here is what Megan gave me when I picked her up from practice. It melted my heart because I can remember how she (and Nicole) would pick flowers for me when they were little girls. And now, they are young ladies and still pick flowers for their Mommy. Thank you, Megan. You know how to tug at my heart.

Nicole's Yarn Creation

OK, so my little Nicole LOVES to crochet. She makes all kinds of neat things. She's made toboggans, tiny sweaters for Charlie (our little dog), blankets, flowers, and numerous other things. Yesterday, she finished this little guy. Isn't he the cutest?.... I am so impressed with Nicole's crocheting skills & love for her hobby. Way to go, Nicole!

A Lovely Couple

I had a doctor's appointment today, and while I sat in the waiting room, I chatted with a lovely couple, the Coxs. Mr. Cox was there because he had some type of neurological problem, which caused him to fall frequently, so he had to walk with a walker and was there to see if he needed another surgery. Mrs. Cox seemed so loving & caring towards her husband as they sat in the waiting area. Even though they weren't always talking, I could tell that they loved each other dearly. Mrs. Cox & I began to chat, as she was very friendly, and she told me that they live in a nearby town, which is very close to our town. I was so impressed with this cute couple, so I asked them how long they have been married. I was shocked to learn that they have been married for 61 years!!! That's just beautiful!!! I guess Mr. Cox could tell that I was shocked when I said, "61 years!" and he said didn't expect to be married for so long, MUCH LESS live as long. I didn't ask them their age, but I suspect they are 80 or very close to 80 years old. Ahhh...I hope Kevin & I are able to enjoy a long & successful marriage like this couple. They are truly inspirational!

Beautiful Day

The weather was perfect for a nice, long walk today. When I got home from work, I threw some warm-up clothes on & headed out the door. Kevin took care of the girls. Of course Nicole JUST had to make a Wal Mart run, (She needed a chocolate cake for school) so off they went to Wallie World while I walked. Oh my!! I actually got to walk 5 miles today, and I completely enjoyed it.

Visiting the Optometrist on St. Patrick's Day

For some reason, in the back of my mind, I seem to associate St. Patrick’s Day with going to the optometrist. I remember when I was in the 5th Grade (Mrs. Crane’s class), my wonderful sister, Delia, took me to an eye doctor’s appointment in Big Spring, Texas. I guess it’s memorable because I felt like I missed a fun day at school (had to wear some green, otherwise I would get pinched), and because I had to wear glasses. I also remember that we went to get ice cream after the appointment at Baskin Robin’s 31 Flavors. Then, there was another year (although I can’t remember which year it was, but I suspect it was when I was in 6th or 7th grade), in which I had to go to the optometrist on St. Patrick’s Day again.

Now, 20 something years later, I find myself at the optometrist on 17 March ONCE again. The only difference now is that I am taking my child to the eye doctor. Above, is a picture of Megan before she had her eyes examined. She didn’t want me to take a picture because she had just finished with her track practice & quickly rushed home for a quick shower right before her appointment.

As we waited, I tried on a few pairs of glasses. After all, I seem to find myself at an optical clinic on St. Patrick's Day. Years from now, I'll remember the date because of the green shirt I had on. :)

After her appointment, we were so hungry, so we stopped by Chili’s for dinner.

Kevin told me to sample his green beer. I must say, it was nasty! YUCK! I hate beer!!!
Below: Tea for me, please.

St. Patrick's Day

OK, so this Blogger isn't so user friendly when it comes to uploading pictures, so it seems easier to add a new entry than to try to insert these pictures where I want them to be.

Above & below: Nicole too tried on glasses. She didn't get any, but she tried some on while she waited too.
At Chili's, she showed me her green fingernail as Kevin stuffed his face with chips & queso dip.

Kevin & his nasty green beer. :-/

Track Meet - Peachtree City, GA

Geez, to be young! Megan & her friends are carefree & full of life..... These girls, despite the cold, were jumping around and having a blast at the track meet against McIntosh High School. I was a ways away from the field, but zoomed in for a picture.

Below: The girls getting ready to take off.

On your mark. Get set....
GO!!!
And keep going....
and going....
Towards the end, Megan was ready to finish.
Meanwhile, we waited in the bleachers. Brrrrrr....it was cold, but Nicole had to polish her nails to match her shirt. (Orange nail polish)
Kevin was trying to keep me warm.

Hugs kept us warm. :D

Megan's Track Meet

Here are a few pictures of Megan’s track meet. We are so proud of our little beast! She ran the one-mile event in 6:23. She was the fastest girl for that even. Then later, she ran the two-mile even and came in second. (I am sorry, but I forgot her time on the two-mile. I think it was 13:36, but I could be wrong.) I can’t wait to watch her run at other meets.

If you are wondering why the pics are so blurry, it’s because Megan was running too fast. Ok, the camera on my phone isn’t the best.

Above: Pics of Megan after the run.
Below: Picture of her passing another runner.

Megan is the second runner in the picture below.

Here are the runners at the start line as they all took off.

Megan's Choice

I was craving carne asada from La Parilla, but Megan didn't want to go there. Instead, she wanted Olive Garden, which is NOT my favorite place to eat; however, it's one of Megan's favorite places. Uhhhh....so we went to Olive Garden and had a pretty good time. Here's are some pictures of what i enjoyed the most. The salad & BREAD STICKS. Ummm....I'm sure I'm sitting on those bread sticks right now because they have a tendency to go straight to my seat!

The company was great - my Megan & me.

More great company - Nicole & me. There was a problem....since it's not one of my favorite (or Nicole's) we couldn't decide what to order. We did enjoy the bread sticks & salad, but we did have to order something in order to get those for free. Megan, on the other hand, knew exactly what she wanted, so she ordered the eggplant parmigiana.

Finally, we decided on lasagna, which was OK. My pleasure came more from the company, verses the food.

Snow

It snowed on Fort McPherson today, and northern Georgia got snow too. Here's what I saw from the balcony of my building. Due to the inclement weather, we were given a 59. (Basically, that means that we got to leave an hour early today. We were given 59 minutes off.)

I text Megan while she was in school (bad Mommy,...I know) and she said is was snowing where we live too.

It was almost 60 degrees yesterday, and today there's snow?...?? What's with this CRAZY weather, y'all?
