Kitchen Talk

When the girls come home from school, they are starving, so I try to cook something before I pick them up so that they can eat right away. Megan didn't want to eat what I cooked today (fried potatoes and sausage), so she ate leftovers instead- taco soup. After she finished her soup, she sat on a stool at the kitchen counter, ate frozen fruits with me, and spoke to me in Spanish. (We usually keep frozen fruits, purchased at Wal-Mart, in the freezer so that we can make smoothies.) We had nice conversation and entertained ourselves while we nibbled. She cracks me up and says the funniest things!

Relaxing

I just finished reading a book that I thoroughly enjoyed entitled That Devil’s No Friend of Mine, written by J.D. Mason. I found this book in the public library's newly released book section, so I decided to give it a try. Because I enjoyed her book so much, I plan on reading other books she has written. It's raining right now, so I probably will not go to the library today. Instead, I'll read My Sweet Audrina, by V.C. Andrews. I read the first couple of pages, and it seems like an interesting book. Since I have been home, I have taken time to enjoy reading. It's so relaxing to grab a book, go outside & take in some of the sun's ray, and read. I just love it!

Hey, I have to tell you all that someone very special called me while I was blogging, and he just made my day! :) My brother, Daniel, is such a sweet man, and I am so happy that he called me today. I have been thinking of a lot about him lately and was going to call him today, but he beat me to the phone. Isn't it nice when you hear from someone who has been on your mind? He and his BEAUTIFUL wife Chris are just the sweetest couple!!

Am I Crazy?...

Yesterday afternoon Kevin and I were both feeling glum. Why? Well, we were both missing our girls. Nicole went to a birthday party, which was a sleepover, and Megan went to a friend's house to work on a group project and then they too wanted to have a sleepover. Needless to say, we allowed the girls to spend the night, and we spent our Friday night missing them. We sent them text messages to tell them that we love them. Are we CRAZY for missing our children? A lot of parents would jump on the opportunity to have their children out of the house on a Friday night so that they can be alone, but we really wanted our girls back. We missed seeing them just "hanging out" at home.

Since it's now Saturday and the girls are home now, I decided to capture them just hanging out. Nicole was curled up on the couch watching a movie, while Megan was in the kitchen snacking on Cheerios, milk, and peanut butter. Yes, peanut butter!!

A Rainy Day

The day began with rain – LOTS of rain. Kevin took the girls to school today, since he’s on Leave (vacation time for all you non-military folks) while I stayed in bed being lazy. Lunch time rolled around and I hadn’t cooked anything, so Kevin and I decided to go out for lunch. We went to Cracker Barrel and had some good ole fashioned country food. I had a country fried steak, with a healthy side of delicious hash brown casserole, while Kevin, who is much more disciplined that I, had a grilled chicken salad. We sipped on ice cold tea and enjoyed our meal. It was such a nice meal out, but I must admit that I felt guilty for going without Megan & Nicole. Kevin told me not to feel guilty because they don’t even like Cracker Barrel much anyway. I still missed them because we always take the girls with us. On our way out, we took a few pictures. Kevin was sitting on a Georgia rocking chair, and I wanted to play checkers.

Back again

OK, so I have neglected the blogging I started back in May....

Let's see. What has happened since May?... Well, we moved to Georgia in August. Kevin is now stationed at Ft. McPherson, and we live in a little town about 30 miles away from Atlanta. It's a really nice community, and the weather is just WONDERFUL. It's hot and humid - just the way I like it. :) There is a pond really close to our house which has a paved path around it (I call it my track), and I just love to exercise on it every day. Since I am not working right now, I take the girls to school, and after I drop them off, I begin my workout. I try to walk at least 5 miles each day. I have to admit that I get lazy at times - especially in the mornings, but for the most part, I am excited about being out among the beautiful tree & enjoy the fresh air. It's really refreshing and makes me feel fantastic!! I even drag Kevin along with me sometimes, and he enjoys it as too. It gives us some one-on-one time and allows us to do something we both enjoy.
