Christmas is Coming

Today we took a trip to Fort Benning, GA to do some Christmas shopping a the PX (Post Exchange). There was so much too look at. There were vendors all along the interior walkways, and people were shopping away. The smell of cinnamon coated pecans & Christmas spices filled the air. Ummm...

We spent the day at Benning, which is a huge Army post & home to the Infantry and soon to be home of the Armor (coming from Fort Knox). Oh, how we all, the girls included, miss being in a military community because that's what we are used to. It's not like Kevin & I aren't around a military installation; we both work on one, but Fort McPherson is so small & we don't live there. We live out in a community that doesn't have much affiliation with the Army. We just miss being on a large military post and miss seeing lots soldiers & their family members. Kevin & I saw young soldiers with their families, and we reminisced of times we were in their shoes...in the PX, with little ones, pushing strollers & just being YOUNG. :) Such fond memories...

Fort Benning is about a 1.15 hour drive from where we live, so we were on the interstate for a little while. As we traveled, we caught a glimpse of the vehicle below. It made us laugh because the reindeer on the top kept flopping up & down. This picture, however, didn't quite capture what we saw. :)
